Preventive and Periodontal Treatment
Oral Hygiene Instructions
Oral hygiene instructions are guidelines designed to help our patients maintain good oral health. Typically included in these instructions are: Brushing, Flossing, Use of Mouthwash, Regular Dental Visits, Protective Mouthguard. Following these instructions can help to prevent cavities, gum disease and other oral health issues.
Oral Prophylaxis
It is often referred to as a dental cleaning. It is a preventive dental procedure aimed at maintaining oral health. It typically involves the removal of plaque, tartar and stains from the teeth, as well as polishing the surfaces to create a smooth finish. This procedure helps to prevent dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. It is recommended every six months, although some individuals may need more frequent cleanings based on their oral health. It may also include an examination to check for any underlying issues.
Scaling and Root Planing
Periodontal Maintenance
It refers to procedures aimed at preventing, diagnosing, and treating gum disease (periodontitis) and other conditions affecting the supporting structures of the teeth. Treatment can vary based on the severity of the disease and may include: Scaling and Root Planing, Antibiotic Therapy, Surgery and Maintenance. Effective periodontal treatment helps maintain oral health and can prevent tooth loss.
Perio Protect Therapy
Studies have traced pathogens that lead to gum disease to the same pathogens known to cause other systemic inflammation and illness. Gum disease is a source of chronic inflammation that taxes your immune system. The more sources of inflammation you have, the greater the risk you have for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, respiratory disease, inflammatory driven dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, colorectal cancer, pre-term births and low birth-weight babies.
Perio Tray™ carriers are custom-made to fit comfortably over your teeth and gums, delivering prescription medication deep below the gum line. Perio Protect is comfortable, convenient and easy to use. The Trays are non-invasive and treatment is self-administered at home.
Restorative and Surgical Procedures
Oral Digital Scanner
Dental digital scanners are advanced devices used in dentistry to create highly accurate 3D digital impressions of a patient's teeth and oral structures. Unlike traditional impression methods that use physical materials (like alginate or silicone), digital scanners enhance the accuracy and efficiency of dental procedures while improving the patient experience.
In our office we use the iTero (corded digital version) and PrimeScan 2 (wireless cloud based technology) which allow us to provide the patient the most accurate and advanced technology in the dental field.
Composite Fillings
They are a popular and effective option for restoring teeth while maintaining a natural appearance. They are used to fill cavities and repair teeth that have been damaged by decay or trauma.
Porcelain Crowns
They are dental restorations that cover partially or in full the damaged tooth. Made primarily of porcelain or ceramic, these crowns are designed to restore the tooth's shape, size, strength and appearance. They can closely mimic the natural look of teeth.
Porcelain Bridges
Are dental restorations used to replace missing teeth. They consist of a false tooth, called a pontic, anchored by dental crowns on either side, which are placed over the adjacent natural teeth. The porcelain material mimics the appearance of natural teeth, making these bridges aesthetically pleasing. They can help restore function, improve the bite and enhance the overall appearance of the smile.
Oral Surgery
Oral surgery encompasses a variety of procedures that address issues related to the mouth, teeth and jaw. Common types of oral surgery includes: tooth extractions, dental implants, jaw surgery, oral biopsy, bone grafting and frenectomy. We work with oral maxillofacial surgery specialists to help our patients with specific procedures. Depending on the complexity, they may require general anesthesia or local anesthesia.
Restoration of Dental Implants
They are artificial tooth roots, typically made of titanium, that are surgically placed into the jawbone to support replacement teeth or bridges. They serve as a sturdy foundation for fixed or removable prosthetics, effectively restoring the function and appearance of missing teeth. The process involves several stages.
Cosmetic Dentistry and More
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin shells made of dental porcelain that are custom-designed to cover the front surface of teeth. They are used to improve the appearance of teeth by altering their color, shape, size, or length. Veneers can address issues like discoloration, chips, gaps, and misalignment, providing a natural-looking smile. They can last many years with proper care.
In Office/At Home Whitening
Teeth whitening refers to various cosmetic procedures or products designed to lighten the color of teeth, removing stains and discoloration. This can be achieved in our office or at home using whitening toothpaste, strips, gels, or trays. The goal is to enhance the brightness of the smile, making teeth look healthier and more attractive.
Custom Nightguards
They are also known as occlusal splints or dental guards, are protective devices worn over the teeth while sleeping. They are primarily used to prevent damage caused by teeth grinding (bruxism) or jaw clenching. Nightguards can help reduce tooth wear, alleviate jaw pain, and prevent headaches associated with these issues.
Custom Sportguards
They are customized mouthguards, are protective devices worn in the mouth during sports and physical activities. They help cushion the teeth, gums and jaw, reducing the risk of injuries like broken teeth or jaw fractures. They're commonly used in contact sports like football, hockey, and basketball.
Invisalign
Invisalign treatment is a method of straightening teeth using a series of clear, removable aligners. Unlike traditional metal braces, these aligners are virtually invisible, making them a popular choice for both teens and adults who want to improve their smile discreetly, also with the ability to remove aligners for eating and cleaning.
